Impact Modifiers:
Optim(R) modified polymers are based on PEs, PPs, EVA, and EPDM. They act by improving interfacial adhesion between the filler and polymer matrix. Thus, the polar functional groups in Optim(R), bind with the surface of fillers like calcium carbonate, talc, mica and glass fibers, while the polymer backbone of Optim(R) mixes well with the matrix polymer. This results in a better dispersion of the filler and enhances the mechanical properties of the compound. Maleated Polymers are known to be excellent impact modifiers for filled PP and Nylon compositions.
