Polyvinyl alcohol is a synthetic water soluble polymer having good biocompatibility, biodegradability, and hydrophilicity.
Incompletely ‘hydrolysed’ grades have been developed for water-soluble packages for bath salts, bleaches, insecticides and disinfectants. It shows good resistance to oil, grease, and solvents; also, it has excellent oxygen and aroma barrier properties.
Polyvinyl alcohol has strong cohesiveness and film toughness, good smoothness and abrasion resistance.
