Iran's NPC to start up No 6. olefins complex by March 2005

Iran's National Petroleum Co. targets to start up its No 6 mega olefins complex, located in Bandar Imam on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf, in March 2005. The plant, southwest of Iran, was originally slated to begin operations in June 2004. The No.6 olefins complex will be operated by Amir Kabir which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Iran's NPC. Production at the site will comprise of a 500,000 mta ethylene cracker, a downstream capacities of 140,000 mta of HDPE and 300,000 mta of LLDPE. NPC plans to bring on stream another olefins complex, the No 7 olefins complex, by mid 2005. The complex will be operated by a subsidiary of NPC called Marun Petrochemical Co. The complex, will comprise of a 1.1-mil mta ethylene cracker, a 300,000 mta HDPE unit and a 300,000 mta LDPE unit.
