Exactly a yera after the plastics ban was implemented in the state, the BMC has cleared a proposal for mechanized facilities to segregate various types of dry garbage, including plastic bottles and pouches. Environment minister Ramdas Kadam said the state government would roll out the buyback scheme for milk pouches by July.
BMC chief Praveen Pardeshi has okayed a plan to allow private agencies and plastic bottle makers to jointly set up dry waste material recovery facilities on six plots where waste from housing societies and commercial establishments will be segregated for recycling.
