Chevron Phillips Chemical has reported an upset Friday at its 1 million mt/year polyethylene facility in Old Ocean, Texas, said a company filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. SPGlobal reports that the company shut a dexanizer compressor associated with polyethylene unit 41 because of an unspecified operational issue, which resulted in flaring at the facility.
The Old Ocean polyethylene facilities are part of the company's Sweeny Complex, adjacent to the Phillips 66 Sweeny refinery. The facility produces ethylene, propylene, high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene.
